Separate legal representation for mortgages over £1m
16 August 2010
With effect from Monday 16 August, we'll be introducing a process of separate legal representation for all house purchases where the loan exceeds £1m.
This means we'll appoint a conveyancer to act on our behalf and the client will continue to appoint a conveyancer, to act on their behalf.
In this circumstance, you should advise your client that we'll appoint a representative from one of the conveyancing firms (listed below) who will liaise with your client's conveyancer.
On the rare occasion that the client has chosen one of the firms below, the conveyancer will be able to act on behalf of both parties.
For all applications the client's conveyancer details should be entered on the application form as usual.
| Property location | Conveyancer | Conveyancer address |
|---|---|---|
| England & Wales | Hugh James Solicitors | 114-116 St. Mary St., Cardiff |
| Scotland | Optima Legal | 5 Renfield St., Glasgow |
| Northern Ireland | Wilson Nesbitt | DX2025, NR Bangor |
